Hog Plant Permit Decision Reversed

The Iowa DNR’s Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) has reversed the DNR’s decision regarding construction permits for a hog confinement facility planned for the Twin Lakes are. The initial DNR decision had been appealed by the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners, resulting in the EPC’s review.

Reasons for the reversal were related to problems with the manure management plans. Prestige Farms LLC may still appeal this decision, or submit a revised permit application.

Details are availabe from the Fort Dodge Messenger.
